Short Form Fiction
KJ West has been published in a range of anthologies.
Her work has been highly commended, and she has been shortlisted for various awards such as the Western Sydney Westwords Writing Prize.
Her short stories will appear in several anthologies this year. “Beneath the Words” will be published in the Diversions anthology as the story that achieved equal first place in this competition. “Sweet Nothings” will be published in the Sweet Treats anthology. Look out for these from RWAus!
Long Form Fiction
K.J. West first novel is a YA 80K urban fantasy with romantic elements. An engaging retelling that challenges the metanarrative, it explores themes of good vs evil, the chosen one and transformations.
She is currently working on a Romantic Comedy set in the Nineties in London. This nostalgic romp questions our belief in love, in the past and in ourselves.
Non-Fiction
KJ. West has been an educator for many years.
Writing as both Kirsten West and Kirsten Oakley, she completed more than 25 study guides on topics such as Shakespeare, Auden, and Australian drama. She has written published pieces for English students on focalisation and narrative theory.
She has also written articles for Online Opinion and the Sydney Morning Herald.
